Carl writes his brother about the towns he is traveling while working (in the theater I believe) and his future plans to buy a boat.

Altenburg, Mo, Nov-28-1898

Dear Brother

I promised to write to you when I left St Louis.  We have been having only fair business so far, but prospects are brightening up, we have played – St Mary’s – Brewerville – Kaskaskia, Clearyville Belgigue – Crosstown – Longtown – Uniontown – Appleton – Frohua and will be in Altenburg all this week and very likely in Pocohautas next week – Expect by xmas we will buy a boat and go down the Mississippi until we get to Red River and go up Red River – Let me hear from you soon – Hazel sends regards – write me this week Altenburg Mo – next week Pocohautas Mo –
