Friend Lewis –
We received your letter and was very glad to hear fro you and very glad to hear you arrived safe. All so glad to hear you are working Mamma thinks your hours for working are very long, and you better not try to do to much. We missed you very much when you first left, but we are getting used to it now. Your room is not rented yet. Mamma made some mince meat and I would like very much if the pie face was here, and help us eat the pie. You asked for Louie but as far as we know he is just the same and has just an many tacks. The night of the ball the 22nd of Feb. I suppose will finish it all because Aggie’s going to have a new dress and Mr. Sterring is going to be at the ball. We suppose Louie will make a whole in the water. We had promotions at school and the pie face is in room 3. We are having very pleasant weather here. Very bad for the horse-shoers, they are standing around. Mamma says if any mail comes for you she will forward it to you. Did you leave the French Hotel yet or have you got a comfortable house. Are you very lonesome? How do you pass the time. I hope you are enjoying your rest from the pie face and I guess you have gained ever so many pounds. You will have to excuse mamma and papa from writing and the pie face will do the corresponding. I guess you won’t have any water melons like you had here you old water-melon face. Everyone that asks where Lewis is I say he went to Joliet Ill. to serve a term. Please be kind enough to let us know when it is up. I guess I can’t roast you any more today. Papa and mamma and sisters all join in sending their regards and best wishes. Hoping to hear from you soon. I remain Pieface to Watermelon face. 1413 Dolman St.
